Certifications and laboratory studies

PLASTERING AND BUILDING System products have sustainability certifications and have undergone external analysis testifying to their environmentally friendly performance.

GEV EMICODE®

The EMICODE®️ classification system enables the comparison and evaluation of the emission characteristics of volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds (VOCs and SVOCs) of flooring products, providing a reference in the selection of materials that guarantee maximum safety against indoor air pollution. At the same time, this system encourages continuous product improvement by manufacturers.

To offer reliable guidance to all users, EMICODE®️ was created, an impartial classification system issued by GEV, the internationally recognised supervisory and licensing body for this label, which contributes significantly to the protection of consumers, the environment and occupational health.

BIOSAFE®

The Biosafe® protocol on a product or plant system consists of a process of bibliographic analysis of certifications, a study of performance related to “active” and/or “low emissive” technologies, and finally an in-depth diagnostic study to extrapolate the characteristics of a product related to indoor air quality.

ROMA TRE UNIVERSITY ANALYSIS

The Department of Architecture at the Roma Tre University analyzed cement-free Novantica®️ plasters in the laboratory, evaluating their impact in terms of CO₂ and VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions. The tests confirmed the products’ properties and significant reduction in emissions compared to traditional plasters, allowing them to obtain the label “Legambiente recommended product”.

The analysis examined the entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to transportation, through an internationally certified process measured in terms of GWP (Global Warming Potential). The use of pozzolanic binders instead of type 1 cement resulted in an 81 percent reduction in CO₂ emissions.

A second study looked at the environmental healthiness of Novantica® products, testing a layered sample consisting of BIO UNDERCOAT, BIO BASE COAT PLASTER, and BIO FINE PLASTER, simulating a typical application of the system. The results showed almost zero VOC emissions, meeting not only European regulatory limits but also the strict Biosafe®️ protocol, among the most demanding on the market.
