Certifications

We invest in building innovation and quality to meet the needs of the construction market, with certified processes that guarantee safety and low environmental impact.

We have always invested in expertise and resources to develop innovative solutions and respond effectively to the needs of an ever-changing market.

Quality guides our research, analysis and development processes, and our certifications attest to its application in accordance with specific standards, together with the attention we pay to process safety and relevant environmental aspects.

Environmental sustainability protocols (Leed, Breeam, Well)

Fassa Bortolo manuals list the products that can contribute to meeting specific requirements of the LEED, BREEAM and WELL rating systems and of the CAM (Italian Minimum Environmental Criteria). With a focus on energy efficiency, we develop and test products and solutions to meet regulatory and market requirements, paying particular attention to technical performance, relevant environmental aspects, the applicator and the end user.

EPD PROCESS CERTIFICATION

Our company has decided to adopt a certified EPD Process system regarding environmental communication. The entire process of collecting data, conducting LCA studies and monitoring environmental impact is managed in a special, certified system that is always up-to-date according to international standards. In this way, the company can increase its awareness of the environmental impacts of its products, as well as transparently communicate these environmental impacts. This tool, known as EPD (Environmental Product Declaration), provides a complete overview of the effects a product can have during its life cycle on a large number of environmental aspects: from the impact on global warming, eutrophication, acidification, resource use, depletion of the stratospheric ozone layer, and many others.

Recycled/Recovered/By-product Certification (CAM)

To encourage construction with greater attention to environmental aspects, Italy introduced the CAM (Criteri Ambientali Minimi – Minimum Environmental Criteria) in 2017. This tool was developed to promote the adoption of products and solutions that meet specific environmental requirements throughout the various stages of the life cycle, from production and installation to end-of-life management.

IACG

IACG, Indoor Air Comfort Gold, is a certification obtained from low-emission products, demonstrating the products’ compliance with VOC requirements in Europe and certification protocols such as LEED, BREEAM and WELL.

Indoor air quality

All interior products in the Fassa Bortolo Colour System are formulated in compliance with the limits set by European Union legislation on volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. They comply with the provisions of Italian Legislative Decree No. 161 of 27/03/2006 (implementing Directive 2004/42/EC), which sets the maximum Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) content in finishes and paste coatings.

Biosafe

The Biosafe® Environmental Health Certification Protocol assesses specific aspects related to indoor air quality through a process that includes the analysis of available certifications, the assessment of performance associated with low-emission technologies and in-depth diagnostic investigations aimed at characterising product performance in relation to indoor air quality. Products and systems validated by Biosafe can support designers and professionals in assessing and designing for indoor air quality in high energy-efficiency buildings and in building refurbishment design.

ECOBAU

Promoting construction that takes environmental and climate aspects into account requires building materials assessed against defined environmental and health criteria. The activities of the ecobau association focus on developing and disseminating planning tools for sustainable construction in Switzerland. These tools support the planning, construction and deconstruction of buildings. The assessment considers aspects such as grey energy, pollutant emissions, substances potentially critical for health and the environment, and end-of-life management. The result is the classification of the product in one of the following categories: “eco1”, “eco2” and “ecoBase”. The assessment is based mainly on grey energy limits, safety data sheets, technical data sheets and laboratory analyses.

FRENCH LABEL – ETIQUETAGE SANITAIRE

Classification and labelling system applied to emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from construction and decoration products and indoor finishes.

GEV EMICODE

Voluntary mark certifying the emission of Volatile and Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC and SVOC) issued by GEV (the Association for the Control of Emissions in Products for Floor Installation, Adhesives and Building Materials), applied to the products in our System for Laying Floor and Wall Coverings.

MINISTRY FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Fassa Bortolo has voluntarily signed up to the “Italian Environmental Footprint Program” developed by the Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea, aimed at determining the carbon footprint across the life cycle of its products, including the AT 99 MAXYFLEX adhesive.

REGULATION CPR 305/2011, CE AND DOP MARKING

All Fassa products comply with EC standards and regulations, satisfy all the performance requisites for building products (CPR 305/2011) and bear CE and DoP marking. All technical documentation bears special logos highlighting possession of these requisites, while others confirm compliance to the criteria and classification methods specified in European standards and regulations.

EUROPEAN TECHNICAL APPROVAL (ETA) AND SAFETY IN ALL COMPONENTS

From the insulation material to the adhesive/base coat, from the anchors to the reinforcing mesh, all components of the Fassatherm External Thermal Insulation Composite System undergo specific checks and control tests. The Fassatherm ETICS has obtained European Technical Assessments (ETA), which attest to the technical assessment of the system’s fitness for use in thermal insulation applications.

BDA

The certification body KIWA Building Product has issued the BDA Agrément® for the system with A96 on render-carrier cement board, intended for installation on timber frames or masonry. The products have been assessed and tested in accordance with specific installation instructions. The certificate attests to the system’s compliance with the requirements of the specific installation method. The BDA Agrément® has obtained third-party approval from NHBC for the UK market.

QB CERTIFICATION

Prestigious certification issued by the CSTB (Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment), the main French public certifying body based on European standard NF EN 12004, which certifies the performance classification of tile adhesives and the implementation and application of a production control system that ensures the constant quality of the products.

NF CERTIFICATION

NF certification is issued by CSTB Paris, in accordance with NF certification regulation 081 specified by AFNOR, the French standards organisation. Most of the Gypsotech® plasterboards have obtained NF certification, a fundamental requisite for the French market.

CVT TECHNICAL EVALUATION CERTIFICATION

Technical document, valid for five years, allowing qualification for structural use within

the Italian territory.

SIA CERTIFICATION

The standards of the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA) define nationally recognised technical and operational rules and are divided into three categories: technical standards, contractual standards and supporting documents to aid understanding. These standards support the design and construction of buildings and building services, contributing to aspects such as safety, functionality, durability and operational efficiency.
