The proposition of a minor intervention so that it could operate as an art gallery implied in developing a silent architecture, avoiding bothering the existing context.

The original project has to play the main role so that even today, everyone may recognize the intentions and the original proposal made by the author. As an enthusiast of the modern architecture he dedicated much attention to the building details in several scales and in the construction elements such as structure, waterproofing insulation and the several building systems applied.

The minimal intervention was a goal. Inside the house we designed an overlapping lightning and electrical installation infrastructure. It is completely evident so that the original one could be noticed. This solves the first demand of the gallery. It provides support for new devices to every day operation of the gallery, and allows for the artists to work with many medias. Another proposal was the new circulation axis guided by the first internal garden, which was solved by a single opening in the perforated concrete bricks wall by the garage. All the new elements introduced, like doors, floor complements, or even wall coverings were painted in neutral grey not to interfere in the original color palette, originally defined by the artist Francisco Rebolo. Rino Levi did not design the backyard construction and its demolition allowed us to add a space adequate for the gallery. There, a 150-square-meter room was added to exhibit large works to be seen from further distance. Inside the house, removable panels were also proposed so that different exhibitions may take several shapes. In an art gallery, the design must foresee the flexibility for several different scales of the art work and these propositions had the aim of let this possible.
